About the Candidate.

Born & Raised.

Raised on a Dairy Farm in Parksville, Matt learned the importance of hard work and community involvement from his family. His learned experiences have given him a deep understanding of the needs and challenges of his community.

Education.

After graduating in 2013 from Liberty Central High School Matt went on to Syracuse University where he majored in Political Science and International Relations at the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs.

Bottom Up.

Matt began his career as a custodial worker and over ten years, worked his way up to the operations department coordinating logistics and events, at Bethel Woods Center for the Arts. Matt understands what is like to start at the bottom and work to succeed, as do many Sullivan County residents.

Why Now.

After graduating in May of 2017 from Syracuse University, Matt was ready to begin serving his community. Working for Congressman John Faso as a district representative representing the Congressman in Sullivan County and throughout a large swath of central New York. In 2019 Matt transitioned to Assemblywoman Aileen Gunther’s office, continuing to work on local issues, as well as legislation, healthcare policy and food insecurity. His time working directly on these issues inspired his own run for County Legislature.
