Things I Believe We All Care About

“I am running for District 1 Legislator because I believe we can do better, move forward, and protect everything that makes our County such a great place to live.”

  • As part of a team working hard to make a living and provide for our family, I know how important it is to have access to safe, decent housing that doesn't break the bank. My wife and I faced this problem head on only this year when our lease was not extended, and we found ourselves in a position that many people do in this county. Even with two full time incomes, we were unable to find a house affordable enough to buy, or a house affordable enough to rent. That's why, if elected, I will work tirelessly to promote policies that encourage the development of reasonably priced housing in our county.

  • I believe that access to quality healthcare is a basic human right, and it's unacceptable that so many of our fellow residents are struggling to get the care they need. We all know that we as a county consistently rank at or near the lowest point for healthcare outcomes in the state. We need to fund programs which address youth activity and engagement, continue to help fight the opioid epidemic, improve food security, fight to retain services at our community hospital, and finally take care of our elderly residents who need long term care.

  • We have the highest opioid death rate in the State. We must do better and ensure quality temporary and emergency housing so that families are not living in conditions that contribute to the problem.

  • Sullivan County is home to some of the most beautiful natural resources in the state, and we have a responsibility to protect them for future generations. I grew up hunting, fishing, and enjoying the outdoors all over this County. These resources are why many choose to live and visit our area. I will work to promote policies that preserve our environment and ensure that our County is a leader in sustainable development.

  • Communities with diverse economies thrive. The Legislature should work together with municipalities to improve infrastructure and create sustainable development.

  • I believe that government should be civil, transparent, and accountable to the people it serves. We have enough work to do in this County that we cannot afford to fight with others that are trying to help address our issues. I will work to see civility, respect, and transparency return.

  • I have volunteered at the Federation for the Homeless and A Single Bite for years. I know firsthand we need to provide more help and support to organizations working with those who need help. We also should fund more youth programming to help children grow and develop.
